The All Saints’ Episcopal School early childhood program will provide a challenging program involving active learning with a foundation of intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development. Our educational setting will promote intellectual curiosity, creativity, independence, life skills, and encourage healthy spiritual development. Children are unique. They learn in a variety of ways and our program will foster each individual child to develop his or her skills to become confident. We will encourage a love for life-long learning. Intellectual DevelopmentCenter based program, focusing on different interest areas, including, but not limited to:

Language and Literacy - vocabulary and language, letters, words, sounds, comprehension, phonics, reading readiness, handwriting and pencil grip, name recognition.

Math and Numbers - number recognition and concept, comparing, sorting, shapes, patterns, measurement, beginning number operations.

Art - Painting, drawing, cutting, pasting, and easel work, clay, finger painting. Art can be thematically planned and developmentally appropriate.

Science - age appropriate experiments, thematic planning, study of living things, environment, earth, culture.

Physical DevelopmentDramatic play, toys and games, blocks, sensory table exploring, manipulatives, fine and gross motor coordination and development, including, but not limited to:

Outdoor play and P.E. class to develop large motor skills (jumping, running, climbing).

Music, movement, rhythm and beat, instruments and dance, including ballet.

| Social Development All Saints’ early childhood curriculum and activities will be designed to promote skills beyond self. Children will be encouraged to build on interaction with others, teachers and groups. Children will observe and explore, problem solve and learn social skills to foster independence and create confidence. Preschoolers will also be taught important life skills of sharing, respect, appropriately resolving conflict and communicating with words. |

| Emotional Development Play and learning at our preschool will focus on promoting self confidence and a positive self image that will lay the foundation for success in school and life. It is important to foster independence and create self assurance. Classrooms will introduce skills relevant to children’s development and interests. |

| Spiritual Development Teaching about God, traditions and disciplines, along with examples of faith, are lasting gifts to our children. The curriculum and activities in the All Saints’ early childhood program will promote a spiritual awareness at the appropriate developmental level of our impressionable preschoolers. Bible stories, lessons, praying, songs and devotionals will connect learning about faith to living in faith. Children’s thoughts and feelings about God or other spiritual subjects are a natural part of their development. At our preschool, we will encourage children’s spiritual growth by incorporating into our curriculum lessons on faith, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, kindness and love. Children are never too young to learn about faith or engage in questions about faith, and our program, while not proselytizing, is purposefully ecumenical in the Episcopal tradition. |
