Competitive athletics, offered to students in grades seven through twelve, are an integral part of the educational program at All Saints' Episcopal School. Our athletic program provides students valuable opportunities to work, grow, learn and have fun. Participation in athletics is a requirement at All Saints’ and we are proud that all of our students are a part of our program.
The purpose of the athletic program is to advance the educational philosophy of the School through developmental and competitive athletics. Team coaches provide sport-specific guidelines, daily schedules, as well as the coach's general expectations to both students and parents at the beginning of each season.
Athletic Department Mission Statement
The mission of All Saints' Athletics is to build character through teamwork and sportsmanship and to help enhance our student athletes mentally, physically and spiritually. We strive to provide an environment that allows personal success and increases self-confidence, while upholding the School’s Mission.
Athletic Department Philosophy
Our athletic philosophy is centered around the encouragement of critical thinking both in practice and competition. We strive to elevate our student athletes time management skills, self-discipline, and their overall awareness in the benefits of physical fitness. Our goal is to challenge our students to have fun, fight adversity, risk failure, get up when knocked down, avoid using excuses, and ultimately to learn how to win and lose gracefully.
Because we have excelled in recent years in competitive athletics in certain sports, we attract students interested in transferring to All Saints’ from time to time. Each of these students must meet the same academic criteria as other students and do not receive special academic support not available to all students. All transfers are subject to our capacity limitations, which vary from time to time. We do not offer merit scholarships for athletics. Students excelling in athletics may receive financial aid based on financial need on the same criteria as other students at All Saints’. To receive more information on tuition assistance, please visit the Admission section of our website.
Team Structure
Varsity
Varsity teams are our highest level of a competitive team. Teams are formed at the discretion of the Head Varsity Coach and staff in a way that they determine is best suited to excel both on and off the field. Winning is a priority but not at the expense of teaching work ethic, teamwork, School pride and accountability. Success will be judged on the field and in the life lessons the athletes gain by their experience in athletics.
Junior Varsity/Freshman
The Sub-Varsity teams are comprised to prepare athletes for the next level by developing and refining the fundamental skills and game strategies needed to be successful on the Varsity level. Teams will be formed at the discretion of the Head Varsity Coach and staff. At this level, it is anticipated that all team members will play in every game should they be in good standing both on and off the field. Success will be judged on the field and in the life lessons the athletes gain by their experience in athletics.
Middle School
Middle School teams strive to be competitive while also emphasizing the development of fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship. At the Middle School level, we maintain and exercise multiple options to comprise our teams in order to ensure the best opportunity to create a competitive environment consistent with our philosophy. Middle School teams are the training ground for our student athletes. Success will be judged by personal and team growth, as well as development of the skills required to succeed in Upper School athletics.
